How do I customize the Look and Feel of my site?

There are 2 ways to customize templates:

1. Template 01 allows you to customize the look and feel of your site.

2. If you know CSS, you can edit the CSS in Site Preferences.    See the additional article on Editing CSS.

When you've selected Template 01, you can bring up the Template Style Customization window from two places:

  1. At the bottom of the Admin page in the "Site Preferences" section,
  2. Open the Template Selector, and the link will be at the top of the Popup.

Once you've opened the Customize window, you'll see the various areas shown below.

Attribute List:

This list contains all the parameters that have been enabled for you to adjust.
The name of the parameter is to the left.
For colors, the color "swatch" comes next.
The description of what they affect is to the right.

Color Selector:

Color Selector To change colors, click in the color "swatch" (the rectangle with the color you want to adjust), and the color selector control will indicate the hue, saturation, and intensity of the selected color.  Change the hue by clicking around the outer ring. Change the saturation by moving the circle in the inner square to the left or right. Change the intensity by moving the circle in the inner square up or down.

You can copy a color from one color swatch to another one. Check the "View Color Values" checkbox to show the HTML color codes in the color swatch panels. Select the color code from the color you want to copy, and replace the color code in the swatch that you want changed. Once you click outside of the swatch, its color will be updated.

Preview Area

As you change the colors in the Color Selector, you will see the corresponding colors change for the affected styles in the Preview Area

Saving

When you're ready to see how the site will look, click the button "Save Values" and refresh your browser window that shows the school site to see the changes take effect.

If you have changed colors around, but want to revert back to the last saved set of colors, click the button "Revert to Previously Saved Values".

If you want to start "from scratch", and start over from the original template settings, click "Reset to Original Template Values". You'll be prompted to confirm that you want to delete your current settings.
